Network Engineer

Job Description:
Relyt International is seeking a Network Engineer in Afghanistan. The purpose of this position is to function as a technical specialist on issues relating to communication technologies and local area network (LAN) systems and their integration in the network. The work involves network administration, Infrastructure installation, IP Camera Maintenance and Installation, Wireless and VoIP.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • • Function as a technical lead on complex network projects to include wireless solutions and VoIP solutions.

  • • Design, develop and implement complex network solutions

  • • Work with CCTV system and provide new installation when required.

  • • Understand of VoIP Installation and SIP trunks.

  • • Develop client support plans for complex communications systems and/or major projects

  • • Recommend innovative networking solutions for client organizations

  • • Advise, analyze, and research network solutions for the client in areas such as: network planning, architecture, operations, network hardware and software evaluations, vendor negotiations and testing and problem resolution

  • • Experience in the Microsoft OS's and application structure, as well as, a CISCO Certified Network Associate.

  • • Troubleshoot entire TCP/IP Stack/OSI Model with regards to Windows/Linux servers and Cisco network equipment

  • • Recommend equipment or processes to install and configure some of the leading Network Management solutions

  • •Plans, installs, operates, and maintains various RF communications systems to include HF, VHF, UHF, and VSAT systems

  • • Provides user level operational instruction on the above topics to ensure user is able to access Internet

  • • Plans, installs, and coordinates for the installation of Cat 6 copper cable, single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic installations.Advises supply on IT procurement issues relating to the above technologies.

  • • Submits reports and information on the above tasks on an as needed basis. Responsible for the overall information technology operations on Camp in Kabul.

  • • Provide Tier I contact and incident resolution to customers with networking hardware and Internet access.

  • • Document incident resolution procedures and standard operating procedures. Contribute to the integrity of the operating systems, planning for and responding to service outages and other problems, and the development of operating scripts as needed to support activities.

  • • Performs a variety of network device configuration and connectivity tasks.

  • • Executes procedures and coordinates corrective action to optimize network performance. Installs, configures and monitors tested and evaluated software packages that provide performance measurements of the WAN/LAN.

  • • Implements the standard configuration software loads for all network devices. Utilizes benchmarks and performance measurement and evaluation data to manage network servers and data communication devices to support normal and surge workload. Works with technical support personnel in resolving critical problems.

  • • Uses remote management software tools to maintain and update configuration, protocol and user/system files.

  • • Documents and tracks change to configuration, protocol and user/system files.

  • • Executes appropriate action to ensure backup processes are completed.

  • • Evaluates the performance of network devices such as servers, and VoIP

  • • Implements the standard operating procedures for all devices on the network.

Qualifications: 6 -10 years in related area and three years direct experience is desirable, or a minimum of 10 years of specialized experience.
